Barry has 20 years of experience managing HR and employee relations in a variety of roles for international corporations, including at the executive level, and as a consultant. Because of his broad areas of expertise, commercial and business acumen; he has been able to help businesses cope with organizational development, change management, employee relations and conflict resolution.
As the owner and founder of a strategic HR Consulting firm BMC, Barry has guided businesses that sought to develop and launch programs to improve mentoring, coaching, employee relations and organizational development. He simultaneously served as the Chief Operating Officer of a company that specialized in conflict resolution, organizational development, and change management.
Before that, Barry spent nearly 14 years as HR executive for a leading producer of wine and spirits that are based in South Africa but has an extensive global reach. While there he was responsible for local and global talent acquisition to support groups like marketing, sales, operations, and corporate services. In addition to leading the HR team, he also managed and lead numerous cross-functional teams.
Beyond his duties in HR, his list of accomplishments there included helping to reposition the brand to make sure consumers had a favorable view of the product and managing the organizational change process from development of strategies and tactics to implementation. Barry also worked closely with the entire executive team to ensure that business plans and policies were being effectively incorporated into the organization’s HR strategy.
He is a resident of Cape Town in South Africa. Barry has a BA Law degree from the University of Western Cape, a BA Honors Industrial Psychology-Labour Relations degree from the University of Stellenbosch, completed a leadership programme at IMD in Lausanne Switzerland and an Executive MBA degree from the University of Cape Town, specializing in Systems Thinking and Strategy.
